New Mexico Communities to Benefit from HUD Grants

WASHINGTON, December 11, 2007 – U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman reported today that seven New Mexico housing agencies have been awarded a total of $474,904 in grant funding though the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Funding was awarded under HUD’s Family Self Sufficiency Program, which helps individuals and families receiving public housing assistance achieve economic independence.

• Bernalillo County Housing Department $114,888
• Santa Fe County Housing Authority $108,780
• Santa Fe Civic Housing Authority $65,000
• Region VI Housing Authority $54,630
• Taos County Housing Authority $46,460
• Truth or Consequences Housing Authority $44,746
• Clovis Housing and Development Agency, Inc. $40,400

“I am pleased that the federal government is making an investment to help individuals and families transition off public assistance,” Bingaman said.
