WASHINGTON, DC - November 17, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senators Tom Udall (D-NM), Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) and Kit Bond (R-MO) today reported that the U.S. Senate has approved an amendment they introduced that would increase funding to provide transitional housing for homeless veterans.

The amendment adds $6 million to the $144 million already allocated for the Homeless Grant and Per Diem Program through the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs (MILCON-VA) appropriations bill. This additional funding brings the program to its full authorization level of $150 million. The Senate must now give final signoff of the MILCON-VA bill, which is expected this week. more »

WASHINGTON, D.C. - October 26, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Representative Martin Heinrich (NM-1) announced today that the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (NMMFA) is receiving more than $7.8 million to support construction of housing for low-income families in Albuquerque through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.  The money from the U.S. Department of the Treasury will go toward the construction of Artisan at Sawmill Village, an affordable 60-unit, green housing complex in the heart of Albuquerque’s Old Town. Sixteen of the units will be set aside for tenants with special needs, including those with physical disabilities, individuals transitioning out of homelessness, and people with behavioral health issues.
