Santa Fe, NM – August 9, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico’s Third District announced today that cities across northern New Mexico are receiving federal funds through the Department of Housing and Urban Development to support public housing projects.  More than $2.8 million awarded through the 2013 Capital Fund Program will assist Public Housing Agencies’ efforts to build, repair, renovate, modernize and develop public housing projects.  Funding can also be used for financing activities, including payments of debt service and customary financing costs.

“This important federal funding will help local communities across northern New Mexico make critical improvements to public housing that will provide families with a safe and healthy environment,” Congressman Luján said.  “By providing funds for large-scale improvements or energy-efficient upgrades that lower energy bills, the Capital Fund contributes not only to investments in housing infrastructure, but to stronger families and stronger communities as well.”

Capital Fund grants are awarded annually through a formula that considers number, type, and age of units in a community.  Below is a list of Public Housing Capital Fund recipients in Luján’s district:
