DOE helps low-income New Mexicans weatherize homes
The U.S. Department of Energy awarded $1.7 million to the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority to help low-income New Mexicans weatherize their homes.
The funds, awarded through the DOE’s National Energy Technology Laboratory, brings total weatherization assistance to date for New Mexico homeowners to $10.4 million, said U.S. Sen. Pete Domenici, R-NM, in a news release.Â
“Especially during this period of skyrocketing energy costs, many New Mexicans will have trouble meeting their heating and cooling needs this year,” Domenici said. “These DOE funds will help many families make cost-effective energy improvements to their homes.”
