Bingaman: New Mexico Pueblos to Benefit From Federal Funds
WASHINGTON, November 08, 2007 – U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman today announced that four New Mexico pueblos will benefit from a total of $2.6 million in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
“This funding for Indian communities in our state will help meet the housing needs of many New Mexicans. I am pleased the federal government is making this important investment,” Bingaman said.
The following pueblos were awarded funding through HUD’s Indian Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG) program, which helps in the development of viable Native American communities by working to provide decent housing, a suitable living environment, and economic opportunities to low income populations.
Laguna Housing Development and
Management Enterprise $825,000
Pueblo of San Felipe $825,000
The following pueblos were awarded funding through HUD’s Indian Block Grant (IHBG) program, which helps meet the housing needs of low-income communities through the development of affordable housing, including new construction, acquisition, moderation or rehabilitation of rental or owner occupied housing.
Santa Clara Pueblo Housing Authority $726,266
Pueblo of Pojoaque Housing Corporation $213,970
