US Department of Homeland Security Grants NM Extension of REAL ID Compliance

U.S. Sens. Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich, and U.S. Reps. Ben Ray Luján and Michelle Lujan Grisham announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has granted New Mexico an immediate extension of REAL ID compliance deadlines to allow the state to implement a law passed last week by the legislature. In a letter sent last week, the lawmakers urged DHS to grant the extension to ensure New Mexicans can continue to access federal facilities and airports.

Udall, Heinrich, Luján Announce $2.135 Million Reimbursement to Rio Rancho for Water Project Upgrades

U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich and U.S. Representative Ben Ray Luján announced that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will reimburse the City of Rio Rancho $2.135 million for completed upgrades to water treatment facilities. The city funded the construction of a water treatment facility to clean arsenic from the water supply and comply with federal requirements in 2007, and the awarded funding reimburses a portion of the approximately $6 million in construction costs.

Lujan Grisham Gets Help for Veterans in Housing Bill

The House passed the Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act today that reforms several programs run by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Rep. Lujan Grisham included a change that requires the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to collaborate in order to improve housing services for veterans.
