Harry Teague Announces Funding for Affordable Housing

Washington, DC – June 30, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Harry Teague announced that the Tierra Del Sol Housing Corporation has been awarded a grant of $138,058 through the USDA’s Rural Development program. The funding will provide technical assistance, capacity building and revolving loan funds to the Anthony-based company. The funding is allocated by the USDA Rural Development program. 

“Tierra Del Sol is extremely deserving of these grants, having made it their mission to provide families in need across southern New Mexico with safe, affordable housing. Their efforts have expanded development and assistance in rural areas that are often lacking in resources,” said Congressman Harry Teague. “This grant will also help create jobs and stimulate the local economy. I applaud Tierra Del Sol’s efforts and the USDA Rural Development for investing in important programs in our rural communities.”

Tierra del Sol Housing Corporation, is a regional housing and community development corporation whose purpose is to improve the quality of life for its clients through the construction of affordable housing and through its housing construction activities. Last year, the corporation, which provides affordable housing to low-income families in rural southern New Mexico communities, received over $600,000 through the USDA Rural Development program to oversee the construction of new homes and repair and rehabilitate five homes for low income families.

USDA Rural Development’s mission is to increase economic opportunity and improve the quality of life for rural residents. Rural Development fosters growth in homeownership, finances business development and supports the creation of critical community and technology infrastructure.
